Join Chicago Ornithological Society on an evening hike to observe the spectacular mating dance of the elusive Timberdoodle (American Woodcock). All ages and experience levels are welcome on this twilight adventure. Please dress aggressively for the weather with multiple layers as temperatures can drop rapidly after sunset and timberdoodling is frigid business. Flashlights permitted but not required and loaner binoculars will be available.

Accessibility:
Total trip distance is approximately 0.5 miles. Trail is unpaved, often muddy, and sometimes under water so sturdy, waterproof footwear is strongly recommended. Restrooms are unavailable.
Weather/Attire/Other:
Comfortable walking shoes or boots for mud and wet trails that may have shallow water are recommended. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a light jacket or heavy coat, hat, and gloves. Loaner binoculars will be available.
The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free street and parking lot parking is available. The location is not readily accessible by public transit.
