Douglas C. Anderson
Bird Conservation Mini-Grant

Legendary local birder Doug Anderson was known for mentoring generations of bird enthusiasts and inspiring young people to connect with nature. The former COS president was particularly devoted to Jackson Park, where he led public bird walks for nearly thirty years. His commitment to youth education and celebration of avian life continues through a mini-grant program established in his memory. An annual mini-grant of $1,000 is awarded to a local educator or organization working on youth-driven community projects that further bird conservation, education, and advocacy.

Information about the Douglas C. Anderson Bird Conservation Mini-Grant, including grant amount, requirements, and timelines, are listed below. This information, as well as the grant application, is available as a downloadable PDF.

The application process for the 2025 Douglas C. Anderson Bird Conservation Mini-Grant cycle will run from January 9 to February 16.
